After the Nazism got the power in 1933, thousands of citizens of Germany and
Austria crossed the borders and looked for a new home in the Czechoslovakia. The authors of
this book support - based on an extensive research - that the relation of the Czechoslovak
officials towards these people was not as tolerant and helpful as it is generally understood.
They also look on the role of the helping organizations and the special status of the refugees
of Jewish origin. The book was created within the project of Seeking a Refuge -
Jewish Refugees into and from Czech Lands, 1933-1945.
